Students and alumni perform perform a concert on the Charles Baird Carillon, an instrument of 53 bronze bells located inside the Burton Memorial Tower, in celebration of Commencement 2024. The performers include Adam Lenhart, Alexander Gedeon, Austin Lan, Carson Landry, Vinson Lam, and Swenny Xue.

An ensemble of undergraduate and graduate students will perform dance band works arranged by Polish political prisoners who were members of the Auschwitz I men’s orchestra. Presented just before the ensemble will depart for a European tour, the performance includes instrumental arrangements as well as songs, with vocals performed by a quartet of student singers.

This concert centers around the idea of women embracing their personal narratives of strength, resilience, loss, and self-expression. Women Defining Themselves is a collaboration with the ALS Center of Excellence at Michigan Medicine, to help to raise awareness and funding for ALS research. Included in the program are University of Michigan dance and music faculty, alumni, graduate students, and regional artists/athletes. Following the concert there will be a reception with food, a hands-on exhibit, and socializing.
