Specialist in Music in Ethnomusicology
Curriculum
- Introduction to World Music and Introduction to Ethnomusicology
- Four graduate-level courses in ethnomusicology (for example, Introduction to Ethnomusicology, Fieldwork, Music of Asia I, Music of Asia II, Music of Southeast Asia, Music of Latin America and the Caribbean, and Special Topics in Ethnomusicology)
- Two terms selected from the Javanese Gamelan or approved performance ensemble
- Electives selected in consultation with an adviser from the ethnomusicology faculty to reflect the needs and interests of the student and to comprise a coherent and defensible program of study
