Degree Programs

The Department of Musicology offers the following degree programs:

Undergraduate Degree Programs

Bachelor of Music in Musicology—for those who wish to teach music history, to work in radio, television or journalism, or to pursue a subsequent degree in library science. The study of musicology is also recommended for those who plan to pursue graduate study and professional scholarship.
Bachelor of Musical Arts—allows students the flexibility to develop secondary (cognate) fields of interest in liberal arts.

Specialist in Music in Ethnomusicology
Certificate Program in Musicology—administered jointly with the Rackham School of Graduate Studies
Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology with Historical Emphasis—administered jointly with the Rackham School of Graduate Studies
Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology with Ethnomusicological Emphasis—administered jointly with the Rackham School of Graduate Studies
